Roy Battenhouse, Shakespeare's Christian Dimension
by Rev. Ralph Allan Smith
(1999)
Roy Battenhouse, editor of Shakespeare's Christian Dimension,
is a Shakespearean scholar with both a literary and theological education.
His collection of essays includes essays that go deeper than Leithart's
introductory studies because it is written for an audience interested
in more advanced Shakespearean scholarship. Also, Battenhouse covers many
more plays than Leithart. Though advanced, his book is not so difficult
that an interested high school senior cannot follow it. College students
who are serious about Shakespeare will find it quit helpful. I think that
home-schooling parents who want to work with their older students should
buy this and read the parts of it which discuss the plays they intend
to study. Buy
it now!
